Safflower

Squirrel Baffles
Baffle Above
Hang a dome or baffle above your feeder to prevent squirrels from climbing down to your feeder. Also acts a weather guard! Available in a variety of sizes and styles, for any feeder. Note: this will not be effective if the feeder is hanging in an area where the squirrel can jump to the feeder from the side.
Baffle Below
By hanging your feeders from a pole, you can attach a squirrel baffle mid-way up the pole that creates a dead-end for squirrels when they try to climb up. The top of the baffle must be at least 5 feet (1.3 metres) above the ground, and the pole set-up itself must be at least 8 to 10 feet (2.2 metres) away from any object from which the squirrel could jump. Thinking about where to put your feeders can help solve problems such as squirrels jumping to the feeders or window strikes by birds.
Squirrel-proof Zone: Place your baffled bird-feeding station at least ten feet away from other objects that squirrels can jump from to make it unreachable.
Window Strike Zone: To see birds up close, place your setup no more than three feet away from your window. This will decrease the likelihood of birds injuring themselves if they do hit your window. Otherwise, place your setup no less than ten feet away.
